On Dec. 1, 2022, Bishop Museum’s Corporate Relations team hosted guests from across the corporate industry for an evening reception to thank sponsors and partners for their support.
Our corporate sponsors have played a crucial role in funding educational programs, exhibits, and other important initiatives at the Museum. Moreover, corporate partnerships help the effort to preserve and share Hawaiian culture with the community and visitors from around the world.
“In the past year, we’ve seen growth in our corporate industry network—reconnecting with our long-standing partners and creating new sponsor relationships. The corporate market has shown interest in the Museum and we have a breadth of opportunities—from research projects to exhibits and programs—very much needing support. We hope this event showed our appreciation for the corporate industry’s support and we continue to encourage our local businesses to help us do the important work we do at Bishop Museum.”
– Milton Lafitaga, Director of Corporate Relations and Partnerships
The event took place in the Gulab & Indru Watumull Atrium and Hawaiian Hall Courtyard. Guests enjoyed a casual cocktail reception featuring catering from Holo Holo Gourmet and Free Spirits mobile bar service. Attendees had the opportunity to meet team members from Bishop Museum’s collections and view current projects on display. Some guests were treated to an intimate tour of Taxonomy: Our Lives Depend On It, with co-curator, Dr. Richard Pyle.
Collectively, the support from our corporate sponsors made these exhibitions, programs, and initiatives possible:
- Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals
- Tatau: Marks of Polynesia
- The Healer Stones of Kapaemahu
- Bishop Museum After Hours, including monthly Pau Hana Pū Kākou speaker series
- Backyard Adventures, exhibition and programming
- E Ulu A Paʻa, Annual Online Fundraiser
“We are grateful for the continued support of our corporate sponsors. These partnerships have allowed us to highlight the work of our collections, offer educational programs to the community, and improve visitor experiences. But beyond just practical benefits, corporate sponsorship plays a vital role in preserving and sharing Hawaiian culture through the Museum’s mission.”
– Brandon Bunag, Vice President of Public Programs, Interim Director of Education
As we look towards the future, we are excited to continue building partnerships with corporations who share our commitment to promoting education and cultural enrichment. We are grateful for the support of our current sponsors, whose contributions have helped make our programs and events possible.
We also invite new companies to join in this endeavor and become a part of our thriving community. Corporate sponsorship offers unique opportunities, including increased brand visibility, employee engagement, and the chance to positively impact our local community.
Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum’s mission is to inspire our community and visitors through the exploration, celebration, and perpetuation of the extraordinary history, culture, and environment of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific. The Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in memory of his wife Bernice Pauahi Bishop, a royal descendant of King Kamehameha I. Today, the Museum thrives as an educational center for the community and is widely regarded as the world’s premier institution for Hawaiian and Pacific content.
