Alliance of Natural Resource Outreach and Service Programs
by Kelli DeLeon and Ken Hayes
On October 1-3rd, BishopMuseum staff members Kelli DeLeon and Ken Hayes attended the annual Alliance of Natural Resource Outreach and Service Programs conference in Columbia, Maryland in preparation for developing a Hawaii Master Naturalist Program based at the Museum.
This would be an 8-week classroom and field-based certification course aimed at training volunteers in the conservation of biodiversity found across Hawaii, from both a naturalhistory and cultural perspective, utilizing our extensive collections, staff, and widespread network of collaborators.
Graduates will become certified members of the robust community focused on natural resource stewardship and volunteer service across the Hawaiian Islands. More to come as we roll out this program soon!
